The Plassy
The Plassy - a steam trawler launched in late 1940 and shipwrecked on Inisheer, the smallest of the Aran Islands, on March 8th 1960 when carrying a cargo of whiskey, stained glass and wool. All the crew members were fortunately rescued by the islanders. The Plassy is renowned for being shown in the opening sequence of the cult comedy T.V. series, Father Ted.
